Checking is not just about flattening your opponent and gaining possession of the puck. The rise of concussions has created a growing need for players not only to know how to deliver a proper check but how to take a check. Even prior to skaters reaching Bantam hockey they need to understand how to absorb  body contact from another player. At our camps we teach:

  • How to separate the body from the puck
  • Body Positioning
  • Ice Awareness
  • Distribution of weight
  • Center of gravity
  • Keeping your head up
  • Absorption of energy
