Facebook Live: Friday at Noon

Coach Ryan is going to have another Facebook Live event on Friday. This is great for coaches to hear but also for skaters.

Topic will be

"How to break bad habits in players"

Facebook Live Recap

We received a lot of emails and responses for a recap of yesterday's "Tips For Creating Offensive Opportunities". Below is what we went over during yesterday's Q& A with Coach Ryan. Please note these are not all of the offensive opportunities but are few of Coach Ryan's favorites.

Creating Offensive Opportunities:

  1. Outside the dots, shoot for teammates. Inside the dots, shoot to score.
    1. Every shot is a good shot but if you are outside the dots we look to keep shots low for rebounds or potentially tip/deflection opportunities.
  2. Eyes on the puck.
    1. Be aware of the puck at all times in the O-zone. Have an idea where it's at and where it could potentially go.
  3.  Close Puck Support
    1. Always try to give the puck carrier an option. An option to a pass in a cycle, drop pass or find an area.
  4. Creating space for the puck carrier.
    1. F1 drives to the net or cycle support. Often times this player is secondary option for the puck carrier not the primary. We are allowing the puck carrier to get an extra step or two.
  5. Speed
    1. Transition speed from defense to offense
    2. Neutral zone speed entering offensive zone translating to putting Defense on their heels
